Herb and garlic pull-apart bread

Tear-apart herb bread is the perfect recipe for the weekend! Garlic bread is a perfect addition to a barbecue. We can easily replace store-bought garlic baguettes with this homemade bread. This herb bread is perfect for outdoor events as well as at home. The recipe is simple and the baked bread looks and smells amazing!

How long after baking can you cut bread?
This bread does not need to be cut! Thanks to the fact that we cut and folded the bread before baking, the bread peels off perfectly. After removing it from the oven, wait a few minutes to avoid burns. Bread tastes best warm.

At what temperature should you bake garlic bread?
Bbake the bread at 180°C without fan using the upper and lower heater. Of course, put the bread into the already preheated oven.

How long to bake herb bread?
Bake the bread until golden brown. In my oven it takes about 1 hour, but each oven bakes differently 😉.

What herbs to use for herb bread?
You can use both fresh and dried herbs for herbal bread. I use parsley, basil and rosemary. You can also use oregano, thyme or tarragon.

Can the garlic bread be made the day before?
Bread tastes best fresh, but you can prepare it in advance and reheat it in the oven with steam – place a baking tray with water underneath or spray the oven with water.
You can prepare the bread dough the day before. Place the kneaded dough in a bowl, cover with foil and put in the fridge overnight. The next day, take the dough out of the fridge about 2 hours before rolling to let it warm up to room temperature. Proceed as follows: recipe.

Can you bake bread in a springform pan?
This tear-off bread is ideally baked in a round or loaf cake tin.

What to serve with pull apart bread?
Garlic bread goes perfectly with salads, grilled dishes, chicken, tomatoes, roasted vegetables and salsa.

Herbal bread contains gluten. The proportions given below will give you 1 loaf with a diameter of approx. 26 cm.

Pull-Apart Garlic Bread Recipe

Ingredients

Dough

  • 40 g fresh yeast (or 14 g of dried yeast)
  • 600 g flour
  • 300 ml water (warm)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp oil

Filling

  • 1 onion
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • 1 bunch fresh basil
  • 1 spring rosemary (leaves only)
  • 60 g butter (soft)
  • salt

Instructions

  • Sprinkle the crushed yeast with sugar, add 3 tablespoons of flour and warm water. Cover and set aside for 10 minutes for the yeast to start working. After this time, add the rest of the flour and salt. Knead the dough for 10 minutes. Add oil and knead for another 5 minutes. Leave the kneaded dough to rise for an hour.
    40 g fresh yeast, 600 g flour, 300 ml water, 1 tsp sugar, 2 tsp salt, 4 tbsp oil
  • In a food processor, chop the onion, garlic and herbs. Mix the onion-herb mixture with soft butter and salt.
1 onion, 5 cloves garlic, 1 bunch parsley, 1 bunch fresh basil, 1 spring rosemary, 60 g butter, salt
  • Place the risen dough on a floured countertop. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle and spread with butter and herbs. Cut long strips of dough, approximately 6 – 10 cm wide. Fold each strip into an accordion (see the video below on how to do it). Place the dough pieces in a cake tin lined with baking paper so that the dough has some room. Cover it and let it rise for about 40 minutes. Bake the bread for approx. 1 h in an oven preheated to 180 °C (356 °F).
