Banana Bread

Homemade banana bread

Moist, soft and sweet banana bread. Perfect for a sweet Sunday breakfast or a sweet dessert after dinner. It is easy to prepare. Perfect for family parties. It is characterized by a unique banana aroma. Are you looking for the best banana bread recipe? This is a real deluxe among banana breads. Why? Grated chocolate and ground nuts add moisture and flavor!

Recipe modifications:

  • You can replace butter with oil.
  • You can replace the milk and lemon juice with buttermilk.
  • If you want, you can add a spoonful of cocoa powder.
  • You can replace hazelnuts with other nuts. Experiment! If you prefer walnuts or almonds, you can add them. I choose hazelnuts because they go perfectly with grated chocolate, give the Ferrero Rocher aroma and go great with Nutella!

What bananas to choose for banana bread?
Browned bananas are best, the softer and sweeter the better.

What to eat banana bread with?
You can eat banana bread, for example, with jam, peanut butter, Nutella, fruit or even plain.

Can you eat banana bread every day?
Even though we call it “bread” and it contains bananas, i.e. fruit, it should be ultra healthy, right? Unfortunately, no. Banana bread is mainly sugar, especially when we eat it with sweet toppings. I would treat banana bread as a dessert that we eat from time to time, rather than a replacement for traditional bread or an element of the daily diet.

How to check if banana bread is baked?
This is where the stick test comes in handy!
If you want to check whether the cake is ready, insert a wooden stick into the center of the cake and remove it. If the stick comes out dry, the cake is baked!
If you can see pieces of wet, raw dough on the stick, the dough needs to bake for a few more minutes.

ADVICE:
If you like baking, I recommend buying a pack of wooden sticks – even if you don’t use them to make skewers, sticks are always useful to check whether the cake is already baked!

How long does it take to bake banana bread?
I bake banana bread for about 55 minutes. It all depends on the oven!

How to bake banana bread?
It is best to bake banana bread in a loaf pan, i.e. a long, narrow form. But if you want, you can also bake it in a cake tin.

What can I use instead of buttermilk for banana bread?
Some recipes for banana bread are based on buttermilk, but due to the lack of buttermilk, I added milk and lemon juice. You can use these ingredients interchangeably.

Is banana bread bread?
Banana bread has only a name in common with bread and it may look like bread made from a tin. In addition to flour, its preparation also requires bananas, sugar, baking powder, it does not contain yeast or leaven, so it is not “bread”. However, you can use it to prepare French toast or a sandwich with Nutella or jam 😉

Should banana bread be wet inside? Is banana bread moist?
Banana bread is not fondant/lava cake, it must be baked inside. The consistency should resemble pound cake – moist, not dried.
