Parmesan Puff Pastry Twists
Puff pastry appetizers are a tried-and-true recipe for party food or a quick afternoon snack. They always disappear quickly. These rolled puff pastry sticks taste delicious with various homemade sauces, ready-made ketchup, or BBQ sauce. They also work perfectly as a snack with creamy soup. The crispy pastry is topped with aromatic, salty cheese and smoked ham. It’s a combination that never fails.
Recipe Modifications:
- Cheese: You can replace the Parmesan with any hard cheese for a distinctive flavor, such as Grana Padano or with mozzarella for a stringy effect. You can also omit the cheese altogether.
- Ham: Instead of Parma ham, you can use sliced bacon or another cured ham.
- Dough: You can replace the puff pastry with pizza dough.
- Toppings: You can sprinkle not only sesame seeds but also poppy seeds, coarsely ground salt, or herbs. It’s best to brush the dough with egg or milk before sprinkling to ensure the toppings adhere to the dough.
The following amounts yield approximately 11 puff pastry spirals.
